How photocells work Photocells are accessories popular for their safety and practicality: they will secure the automation systems in your home. The photocells consist of a transmitter cell and a receiver, which will be placed one opposite the other, on each pillar of your gate. The role of the transmitting cell will be to emit infrared radiation towards the receiving cell. If the signal is correctly perceived, this means that no obstacle is preventing the closing of your gate. On the other hand, if the signal is not received by the receiving cell, this means that an obstacle is obstructing the path of the gate: the photocells will then control the electrical card of your motorization to signal the immediate stopping of the movement of your portal. Photocells therefore represent an asset for your motorization systems, since they will allow them to avoid self-destruction or accidents. Technical characteristics of BFT AKTA A30 photocells BFT AKTA A30 photocells are cells that you can orient 180° horizontally and 20° vertically. They will be compatible with outdoor use for better detection of obstacles around your motorization system. They can operate at a maximum range of 30m and must be powered by 24 Vac/dc. You can place them either on the pillars on either side of your portal, or on a PHP-type column: for this, provide a PHP ADA adapter. These photocells are made up of an IP45 housing, which can withstand very low and very high temperatures (the temperature range is between -20°C and 55°C). In the event of snow, rain, or fog, the range of your photocells may decrease very slightly.
